A New Bedford man was arrested on Thursday after being discovered with 26 pounds of marijuana at a home in South Dartmouth.

Sidney DeSousa, 35, of 110 S. Sixth St. in New Bedford, was charged with possession with intent to distribute Class D and E drugs and illegal possession of ammunition according to Dartmouth Police spokesman Detective Robert Levinson.

Dartmouth Police narcotics detectives along with members from the South Coast Anti-Crime Task Force raided DeSousa’s rental property, 5 Nonquitt Ave., Dartmouth.

Authorities seized approximately 26 pounds of packaged marijuana, worth an estimated $100,000 along with $315 in cash, 39 vials of suspected Human Growth Hormone and 13 rounds of .38-caliber ammunition.

DeSousa was arraigned at New Bedford Third District Court on Friday and released on $5,000 cash bail.
